When a homeowner asks Google or an AI assistant who to call, do you come up?
The AI Search & Local Visibility Audit answers that one question for plumbing, HVAC and roofing companies in Tampa Bay. If the answer is no, it shows you why, and what to change first.
Five business days · Public data only · We never contact your office, staff or customers
What you get
- A score out of 100, with a plain-English band from Dominant to Critical.
- Six section scores, so you see where you lose work.
- A fix list in three waves: this week, the next six weeks, this quarter. Each fix shows the hours it takes, what it is worth, and the evidence for the problem.
- A 30-minute walkthrough call. We go through the fix list with you, line by line, and you decide what gets done first.
There is nothing after it you have to buy. The fix list is yours. Give it to your own web person or anyone you like.
What we check
22 checks in six sections. Every check is scored 0–5 against the same written standard for every business, and every score carries evidence: a web address, a quoted line, or a recorded result.
| Section | Weight |
|---|---|
| AI Search Presence | 25 |
| Google Business Profile | 20 |
| Reviews & Reputation | 15 |
| Website Content & Local SEO | 20 |
| Technical & Mobile | 10 |
| Conversion & Lead Capture | 10 |
If public data cannot confirm a check, we score only what the evidence supports and mark it unverified. We never guess in your favour and never against you.
One finding from a real Tampa Bay audit
Your website says 24/7. Google says you close at 5 pm, Monday to Thursday.
A family-owned Tampa plumber with about 420 Google reviews at 4.8 stars, and one of the strongest plumbing websites in the city. We asked an AI assistant the two questions their customers ask. Eight companies came back for the first. Four for the second. They were in neither answer.
A burst pipe on a Tuesday night is the highest-value call in the trade. Google, and every AI tool that reads Google, sent it to someone else. The fix takes about 30 minutes.
Company name and identifying details withheld. Audit run 9 October 2026.
What we will not do
- Contact your customers, staff or suppliers.
- Submit forms on your website or call your office.
- Change anything on your website, Google profile or listings. We look. We do not touch.
- Publish your score or use your name without your written permission.
- Criticise whoever handles your marketing today.
- Promise rankings. Nobody can.
Questions owners ask
- Do you need access to my website or Google profile?
- No. The audit runs on public information. Read access to your Google Business Profile and Search Console makes some checks sharper, but it is optional.
- Do you promise more calls?
- No. We show you where you lose calls, with evidence, and what to change first. Results depend on the fixes being done and on your market.
- What if a finding is wrong?
- Tell us. We correct it, re-score that check and reissue the report at no charge.
- How long does it take?
- Five business days from the day you confirm the scope of work. If we will be late, we tell you the day before.
Who runs it
Shortlist Local is run by Michael Carl, an independent technologist in Tampa. His background is software development, sales and marketing, and AI tools for small businesses. He started Shortlist Local because local trades are now chosen by AI assistants that most owners have never checked.
We work only with plumbing, HVAC and roofing companies in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Brandon and the rest of Tampa Bay.
